POWERTECH QUESTAIR HYDROGEN TECHNOLOGY CENTRE

RKTG Associates, as prime consultant, began planning for a building to house hydrogen fueled vehicles for Powertech Labs and a research facility for QuestAir in a “hydrogen safe” laboratory in January 2005. A contract was awarded to Humphrey Construction Ltd in November 2005 to construct the pre-engineered steel building for the two companies.

QuestAir Technologies moved into the building in September 2006 and occupy half the building plus the office section in the middle. The lab is equipped with a hazardous gas detection and alarm system to enhance ventilation when a hazard is detected and will shut down power to the building if the concentration of hazardous gases continues to rise. This and the building mechanical systems were designed by J.M. Bean & Co. Ltd.

The Powertech Labs Inc. side of the building is presently unfinished but is intended to house up to 6 vehicle bays to service hydrogen fueled vehicles.
